  • WILL RESCHEDULE HIKE DUE TO SNOW! Woodmarsh Trail, Elizabeth Hartwell Mason Neck Wildlife Refuge

WILL RESCHEDULE HIKE DUE TO SNOW.  We will walk the one-mile Woodmarsh Trail to the bird blind overlooking the Great Marsh on January 7 to see the Tundra Swans. Last year we spotted several species of ducks as well.  The walk will begin at 2 PM so that we can arrive at the bird blind during high tide, when the birds generally are the closest to the shore.   We'll bring telescopes and some binoculars, but bring your own if you have them.  The parking lot for the Woodmarsh Trail is on the left of High Point Road, just a short distance before you reach the Contact Station for Mason Neck State Park.  We will have a five-minute Annual Meeting before the hike to elect Directors for the Friends of Mason Neck State Park.
